Cancer Biomarker Project
We work in development of newer biomarkers for cancers. We are trying to develop a tumour marker for early diagnosis and/prognosis of Oral Squamous Cell Cancers (OSCC) and have identified a novel serum-based tumour marker Cripto1 for OSCC by candidate gene approach. We are also looking into other plausible markers for OSCC in both serum and saliva by Mass Spectrometry based proteomic screening approach.
Circulating Tumor Cells (CTCs) in HNSCC
We are also working in the analysis of Circulatory Tumour Cells (CTCs) Biology to identify differentially regulated pathways in CTCs required for metastasis. Our long term goal is to make a diagnostic panel based on transcriptomics of Circulating Tumour Cells (CTCs)- identification, enumeration and gene expression.
Radiogenomics
We are working in the field of personalized radio genomics in a way to find new tools for predicting radiation reactions in Head & Neck Cancers. Using Radiogenomics, we are trying to create a model for the accurate prediction of radiation toxicity/treatment response in patients early in the treatment regime.
Molecular Dermatology
The other area of interest is to identify genetic factors determining the severity and progression of Acne and identifying role of different acne modulation drugs.
